Description
Surname: Wardill
First Name: Florance Clara
Age: 14
Year of Arrival: 1887
Child notes: Letter dated Oct. 29, 1891--I had some little difficulty in finding the family as they have removed from St. Vincent St. to the outskirts of the City. I was fortunate in finding both Mrs. Wills and the girl at home. The Former stated that the girl had been with her for the past four years, she having obtained her from Miss Rye. She had furnished her with food and clothing during that time, which was all she considered she was worth, and offered to pay her way back to England, but the girl refused to go. From appearances I should judge that she was not very intelligent and would be really worth very little. On being questioned the girl said she was very well satisfied where she was and with the treatment she received. She is eighteen years of age, attends Sunday School and goes to church occasionally. Mrs. Wills also promised me that she should receive wages as soon as she could earn any.
